Contemporary jazz pianist, composer, conductor, and arranger David Benoit feels new energy after a recent kidney transplant.
“I’ve been given this incredible gift… and I feel like I can almost start over again.”
In a good article by Bondo Wyszpolski, Benoit talks about difficulties with a failing kidney over the last decade, struggles with keeping his youth symphony afloat, and some new projects including a cello concerto, the possibility of a new album and hitting the road again.
“I feel like I’m doing some of my best work now as I’ve gotten older and a little smarter about things. When you’re young you think you know it all, then you realize the adage ‘the more you know the more you realize you don’t know.’ Yup, that’s true.”
