Thanks to a special donation from Carl, ContemporaryJazz.com Radio will be online for another year! I’m excited to be able to continue to play my favorite acid jazz, nu jazz, remixed jazz, jazzy house, and similar styles for you. With the addition of Sean Miller’s Jazz Pulse program on Sunday nights (8 p.m. CST) and some possible future shows, the station will better than ever. Thanks also to Dan and Gina, Isaiah, Robin, and my wife. I wouldn’t have been able to continue without your contributions.
Thanks to PayPal donations from Robin and Dan & Gina, and a Live365.com gift certificate from Isaiah, plus a new high in rewards from VIP listeners and savings I’ve been keeping for this, ContemporaryJazz.com Radio now only needs $150 to renew its annual fee to continue! As I posted previously, I pay an annual amount to Live365.com to keep the station going. Live365 pays the music licensing fees to ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC. My annual payment is due March 27.
I know it’s the most difficult economic time I’ve seen in my lifetime. But I think there are 10 fans who can give $15 each to keep this going. That’s all it would take. Be one of the ten! Again, I’ve been saving for this so I wouldn’t have to ask for help. I’m still offering to send a CD to anyone who contributes at least $30.
A couple of years ago, when the royalty rate for Internet broadcasters was raised astronomically, I wrote about why I do the radio station (then called tomorrowJazz Radio). My desire to continue sharing music I enjoy has not changed and would like to continue. I hope you’ll consider donating. Here’s how.
On March 27, the amount I pay annually to keep ContemporaryJazz.com Radio will come due. My station is on Live365.com who pays the ASCAP, SESAC, and BMI licensing fees. When I play an artist, they get paid. I’ve been saving credit received through VIP memberships. I’ve saved $50 through that – thanks VIP listeners! However, it isn’t enough. To keep ContemporaryJazz.com Radio going to April 2010, I need to raise another $300.
There are a couple of ways you can contribute:
PayPal. Click the button below to donate any amount you’d like through PayPal. You can use bank information or any major credit card.
Live365.com Gift Certificate. On the Live365 page, choose the last option where you choose the amount. You can contribute anything from $5 to $100. The recipient is me and my email address is john at contemporaryjazz.com.
If there is another method you’d prefer to donate, please email me at john at contemporaryjazz.com.
If you’d drop me a note letting me know that you contributed, I’d appreciate it. You might want to include a mailing address. I’ll send a CD to anyone who contributes $30 or more. I’ve got limited quantities of Rendezvous Lounge 2 (chill/jazz compilation), Explorations – Classic Picante Regrooved (Latin jazz remixed), and Jeff Lorber’s Heard That discs I will give away as a token of my gratitude.
ContemporaryJazz.com Radio plays nu jazz, acid jazz, remixed jazz, jazzy house, dancefloor jazz, and other groove jazz styles. It’s online all the time and is free (with ads) or you can purchase a VIP package for commercial free listening and other benefits.
I posted a number of new tracks I downloaded over the holiday. The newest track I’m playing is the Dimitri and DJ Meme “Step Aside” remix from Incognito’s More Tales Remixed. That is in stores now and is available for download – $8.99 for 12 tracks at Amazon.com.
In addition to some Christmas music sprinkled in the ContemporaryJazz.com Radio playlist, there are two new shows you’ll want to listen to.
Sean Miller’s Jazz Pulse program is back and ContemporaryJazz.com Radio has it! Starting in early 2009, you’ll be able to hear it each week but the Jazz Pulse Christmas music program will be playing at times throughout this week. On the show: Brian Culbertson, David Sanborn, Al Jarreau, Jimmy Smith, Al Di Meola, Herb Alpert with Jeff Lorber, Steps Ahead, Spyro Gyra, Michael Franks, Special EFX, and Elgin Wells.
I’m putting together a show that spotlights new contemporary jazz holiday music as well as some of my favorites. You’ll hear the new seasonal sounds from Spyro Gyra, Bob James, David Sanborn, Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Joyce Cooling, and Dan Baraszu & Joseph Patrick Moore. I’m pulling various cuts from a number of recordings from my collection for the show as well.
Both shows will run on Christmas Eve, beginning at 8 p.m. CST and again on Christmas Day at noon CST.
