Bad Knees by Ghost-Note

Little did I know that one of my favorite contemporary jazz tracks of the year would be a harbinger! “Bad Knees” from Ghost-Note’s new recording Mustard N’Onions is a jam. The studio version is a live, funky, horn-heavy Godzilla of a track that has kept me dancing all year.

Unfortunately, all that dancing (maybe) led to me having to have a meniscectomy this week!

Since I’m recovering from the knee surgery, I thought I’d share this blistering song. Enjoy!

Ghost-Note is an explosion of funk pushed into the future, building on the uplifting, pioneering foundations laid out by the likes of James Brown and Sly & the Family Stone while infusing fresh tastes of Afrobeat, hip-hop, psychedelia, and world folklore. The band is headed by Snarky Puppy’s multi-Grammy–winning percussion duo of Robert “Sput” Searight and Nate Werth, and features an expansive roster of next-level musicians who have performed with Prince, Snoop Dogg, Erykah Badu, Herbie Hancock, Kendrick Lamar, Marcus Miller, and more.
