Jazzanova has compiled and produced the soundtrack of a new German show, Belle et Fou. You can read more about how Jazzanova uses folk, jazz, and soul to obtain the feel of it. It’s the latter two styles that make “Ice” my favorite track on the recording (and of the year so far). The horns and strings remind me of the Mizell Brothers’ work on 70’s Blue Note classics from Donald Byrd and Bobbi Humphrey. Add in the live acoustic guitar, bass, and an unforgettable melody and you’ve got a must-listen to composition. It’s now available at your favorite online shops with the disc hitting stores in mid-February (I haven’t seen a U.S. release date). If you have iTunes, you can listen to this great tune right here.
